Section Z

Captain Commando Says: I, Captain Commando, the symbol and essence of Capcom, star in this game.  And I save the world!
Ernie Says: Also, the alphabet stars in this game! You get to go from A to Z!
The Bent Kangaroo Says: I already know my alphabet. So let's move along.

So, What Kind Of Game Is This?

One of the more original shooters on the console.

What Is Original?

A)The control. The A button shoots straight ahead.  The B button turns Captain Commando around and has him immediately shoot behind him.

B)You have hit points. Getting hit reduces your hit points. Dying reduces your maximum hit points. Lose your maximum hit points, and you get sent back many many sections, unless you've hit two checkpoints. Otherwise, you have infinite continues.

C)At the end of each level, you have two possible exits. At least one exit moves you forward one section (or multiple sections).  The other exit may move you forward, or even back several levels. There are also some infinite loops that can be escaped a la Captain Picard and the Enterprise.

So Why Such A Low Score?

Remember, I generally don't like shooters. But more than that, the game feels like the console version of Let's Make A Deal. You are asked to make a choice with no foreknowledge or clues as to what that correct choice might be. To add to the difficulty, many of the levels look similar, so memorizing the correct path(s) (in addition to memorizing enemy patterns, as usual) would take more playings than I'm willing to attempt. Some people have suggested making a map. How many people want to draw a freakin' map while playing a fast action shooter?

I Do

Then, by all means.
