1942

Franklin Delano Roosevelt Says: This game details my plan that was rejected after Pearl Harbor.
Emperor Hirohito Says: Seven thousand planes against one sounds like a good plan to me.
The Bent Kangaroo Says: Bring 'em on!

What Kind Of Game Is This?

This is a vertical shooter, with planes, planes, and more planes. Horrible sounding planes. Praise Lord for volume control. There are 32 levels stretched out across the Midway, where the Americans kicked some ass in 1942.

But This Game Is Just One American, Right?

Yep. In 2-Player mode, you alternate to see who can kill more Japanese...I mean get more points.

How Can One American Plane Take Down Seven Thousand Japanese Planes?

Well, I only took down 5,664 when I played. I have some mercy. Anyway, the American plane is very quick, easy to maneuver, and can roll out a few times per battle to completely avoid all gunfire. Unfortunately, RAM runs lows often, slowing down the plane. To combat that, there's unlimited firepower, extra planes, continues, save states, and power-ups!

What Power-Ups?

There are two. One gives your plane four guns instead of two and one gives you two buddy planes to guard your wings. There is no rapid automatic fire power-up; prepare yourself for "Nintendo Thumb."

Did You Know This Game Was Released In Japan Almost A Year Before The U.S.?

They were eager to educate the Japanese children about their embarrasing defeat in hopes they would learn not to mess with us again!

Don't You Think They Just Changed The Plot To Make The Japanese Kick American Butt?

Ha ha. Like the public would have bought that idea.

Are You Xenophobic?

No!  That game blows!

How Tough Are The Final Bosses?

There are only four, and they are fairly easy once you fight them a couple times. The best part is, the Japanese didn't heavily guard their last base! I blew through that last one no problem. YEEHAW!

So Who Would You Recommend This Game To?

Anyone who likes shooting down planes and anyone who likes shooting Japanese.

And Which Are You?

Look out!  They're coming right for us! Rat-a-tat-tat-a-tat-tat...
