Interview: Preseaon Quotes
| Instead of rounding any particular players for an interview, we decided to go around to various locker rooms to hear what various players had to say about this year's draft for SFFL 14! |
|
Curtis Martin: What the fuck?
Kirk Ferentz (Hawkeye Head Coach): None of my players are on a team yet, but just wait until Week 2 after Dallas scores a touchdown. He'll be off the waiver wire faster than it takes the Gophers to fold a 4th quarter lead.
Peyton Manning: I'm making Dave's picks for him. I don't let my own coach call the plays, so why should I let Dave? Heck, why would anyone?
Jake Delhomme: Yeah, I can't believe it either. 5th round?? Shit.
Joseph Addai: Lord, thank you for my strength, courage, and letting the Colts draft me.
Deion Branch: Hold out? No, Randy and I worked out a deal already.
Robert Holcombe: My first time being drafted! **weeps** I don't know what to say. Thanks guys!
Neil Rackers: Heh. Like I'll do that again.
Jay Feely: Ditto.
Rod Smith: I'm glad we got a Walker. I need one.
John Carney: I'm not worried about making a team later. I'm only 42. It's just too bad I'm not on the Vikings. I hear this league has an owner who would've taken me then.

Useless Draft Information
--Last season, the only team that didn't have a representative drafted was the Cleveland Browns. This year, the lowly 49ers suffer the same fate. --Once again the Colts have six players drafted, but this year the Patriots accomplish the same thing.
--Teams with five representatives include the Bengals, Seahawks, Eagles, and Panthers.
--The Arizona Cardinals have four players drafted!
--This is also the first time a Cardinal (Edgerrin) was drafted in the first round. The earliest a Cardinal had ever seen a player go was the 3rd round in 2002. David Boston did not meet expectations.
--Last year's Super Bowl winner, the Steelers, had just three players get the love.
--Average age of players drafted: 27.77 years, down from 27.84 last year.
--Oldest team is Dave's: 28.8 years
--Beau has the youngest team this year, with an average of 26.9 years. His oldest player is Warrick Dunn at age 31!
--Only two players 35 or older this year. John Kasay and Rod Smith are both 36, the kicker a few months older.
--We have two players barely old enough to drink, the youngest being Reggie Bush.
--Dave is the first owner to draft a player not currently on a roster when he took Robert Holcombe. Shoe once traded for Barry Sanders who was unsigned, hoping he would come out of retirment. Dave paid for a subscription that told him Holcombe was signed with the Chiefs. Whoops.
--For the first time since 1999, Mike Vanderjagt went undrafted.
--LT2 has been drafted 1st, 2nd, or 3rd for four consecutive years. Wow.
--For the second year in a row, Owens and Moss are drafted back to back, but two rounds later than the year before.
--10 of the first 12 players drafter were running backs. The last time this happened was just two years ago, when the first 10 players drafter were all backs (albeing in a 10 man league). Only four of the backs are the same.
--Last year Randy drafted Adam Vinatieri in the 4th round. Vinatieri finished 19th in scoring amongst kickers. He learned from this mistake, and waited until the 5th round to draft him this year.
