Newsletter: Week 12

Our only father/son week produced a little bit of drama come Monday night with the sons coming out on top 2-1. The playoff picture has become slightly clearer, but everybody remains in the hunt. We have a new column this week "Randy The Seer" and yet another interview.

Have a very happy and filling Thanksgiving, and don't choke on your turducken.

Beau's team toyed with Randy for a few hours, before the Colts/Bengals 82 point slugfest gave him all the help he needed. Our Player of the Week put the game out of reach and gave Beau his third high score of the year. Donald Driver valiantly tried to make a comeback, but he fell five touchdowns short of a miracle on Monday night. 85-53 was the total.

While Driver's 15 points gave Randy a one-point win over Dave (and moved him ahead in the Fantasy Sidebet League), the latter still managed to squeak out a must-needed win against his son. The Nigerian Daydreamer, Samkon Gado, needed only eight points against the lowly Vikings.  But after he coughed up yet another fumble, he was benched for second half, taking out all of the drama. 52-46 was the score, and Dave passed Branden for 4th in the standings.

Even less drama was the Monday night showdown between Bruce and Chris. Needing only six points from Favre for the victory, Chris won some time during the second quarter. sustaining his stronghold on first place. Bruce loses 68-73, yet his third consecutive loss still doesn't much hurt his playoff chances.

Useless Info

~Beau extends his points lead yet again. It is now 59 points with just three weeks left.

~Five times in SFFL we have had at least three father/son matchups in the same week. The overall matchup is 8-8.

~Last year the sons went 4-0. The year before, the fathers went 7-2.

~Randy has the lowest point total and has given up the most points. The last time someone finished the season like this?  Chris, back in 2001. With eight league members, Chris was outscored 745-591. He still managed to go 5-9, but did finish in last place.

~In the toilet bowl that year, Chris lost to Shoe 17-0. He started a tradition of SFFL members not submitting their lineups.

Interview: Mike Anderson
In between signing autographs for his beloved fans, we were able to land an interview with Broncos tailback Mike Anderson. But despite helping the first place Broncos shut out the Jets last weekend, he was in a surprisingly sour mood.

SFFL: Congratulations on your three touchdown perfomance last weekend.
Anderson: Thanks.
SFFL:  You're on pace for your first thousand-yard season since 2000.
Anderson:  Yeah.
SFFL:  You don't sound too excited about it.
Anderson:  You wouldn't either if you got no respect from your owner.
SFFL: Pat Bowlen?
Anderson:  No, Bruce. I score him twenty-three fantasy points and he leaves me on the bench. And for who? Tinker Bell.
SFFL: He must think you're exceptional. He did pick you when the Broncos were on a bye.
Anderson: That just further proves he's a moron.
SFFL: Will this affect your performance?
Anderson: No, but it may affect my draft position next year if I don't get the right attention.
SFFL:  Well, he picked you for this week's Thanksgiving game. Are you thankful for that?
Anderson: I'm thankful for these fans, who know a superstar when they see one. Now excuse me, one them's chanting "We'll pick you Mike!"
SFFL: Thanks, Mike.  And now back to our regularly scheduled uplifting articles.

Randy the Seer

Our cellar civillian predicted when he made his picks that his entire team probably couldn't beat Beau's this week. Let's see how they did.

Ah, what a shame. Randy can't predict as well as we thought. Of course, that would explain his 3-8 record.

What I'm Thankful For

~I'm thankful for Branden taking Priest Holmes off my hands, then letting me pick up Larry Johnson when he got injured.
~I'm thankful for Neil Rackers.
~I'm thankful for the Petersen family, who made the Super Bowl kitty what it is today.
~I'm thankful for Dad pursuing a 14th consecutive season without a Super Bowl victory, as this will give me plenty of material for next season.
~I'm thankful that you guys put up with me being commissioner.
