Myst
There are generally two types of adventurer gamers. There are those that like inventory-based and NPC-driven games, and those that like Myst. I am of the former.
Myst tells a beautiful, cryptic tale. Whatever that tale is, it's devoid of the player's recognition.
The game takes place on a mysterious, electronically corrupted, gorgeous island, in where you are basically the only human. The game offers no direction, no human interaction, and little fun as the player trudges along unbearingly slow through each esoteric puzzle.
If you are excellent at piecing together vague, loosely connected concepts, or think excruciatingly tedious puzzes are a perfect form of masochism, then this is the perfect game for you. Otherwise, the beautiful graphics and sound are wasted on your average gamer with money to spend on more involving games.
